Cartoon Final Project

For our final cartoon project I drew a comic about dinosaurs. I made the comic using water color, colored pencil, and Sharpie.
I used colored pencils to touch up the comic and add shading with the hatching and cross hatching technique. Using water colors was a challenge for me since I can't color or draw inside the lines so I used white paint frequently to cover it up outside the panels.

The difference between anime and manga is that anime is the cartoon show, hence the anime from animation. Manga is graphic novels/comics.

The difference between graphics novels and comic books is that a graphic novel is a longer and more complexe story condensed into one book whereas a comic book tells a story over many issues.

How are panels designed and layout in comic books, newspapers, and graphic novels? In a comic book panels can have any design/layout the artist chooses. There are often many different sizes and positions and views. Graphic novels are similar in that there are different panel sizes but there is a wider variety such as triangle or any shapes. Newspapers stick to one row of panels that usually have the same size panels.

Cartoon Bones Project

For my cartoon bones project I chose Pikachu from the show Pokemon. I traced him from a printout and colored him on a translucent paper.

The below image is a special camera effect I used which layered the bones over the original printed out picture.
Although Pikachu looks quite scary without skin and muscles, the resulting skeleton is vaguely similar to a human skeleton minus several fingers, toes, and ribs.

Photoshop Project

For my photoshop project, I edited myself into this Lion King original. I also added a real moon to the background and moved the moon behind the original Lion King image. It looks pretty cool. I couldn't find the drop shadow so I have none. But it looks really authentic. Photoshop is fun.
